About Susan Pates

Susan Pates is a seasoned real-estate broker of 42 years who lives and works in Historic Downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia.  Raised on a farm in Orange County, Virginia, she graduated from Mary Washington College and has a Master’s degree from the University of Virginia.  For several years, she resided in Washington, D.C., and worked as a legislative assistant for Senator Lloyd Bentsen of Texas and Senator John Glenn of Ohio.  Mrs. Pates has served on the City Architectural Review Board, Jury Commission, and the Board of Equalization.  She is active in residential, commercial, and farm/land sales.  Her husband of 50 years, Attorney James M. Pates, and she took a worldwide travel sabbatical for two years in 2004 and continue to travel today.
