Elizabeth Koenig

at 1840 Dulles Inn

My name is Elizabeth Koenig and I am the proprietress for the historic Dulles Inn. My husband and I were always looking for projects as soon as we walked through the elegant front doors and saw the beautiful museum quality interior we knew this was an awesome opportunity The 8,800 sq ft mansion sat vacant for five years We are the first private owners since it was sold to the state of New York by the Dulles family in 1932 For over 40 years the home was the residence of the warden for the Auburn correctional facility the house needed a lot of work but it was in a great location . Two blocks into town right next to the William Seward mansion and down the street is the Harriet Tubman museum and park It took us five years to restore from top to bottom of one of the most notable residence was a teenager call John Foster Dulles , we knew this when we bought the Mansion One of the most notable residents was a teenager call John Foster Dulles, secretary of state to Dwight Eisenhower and Allyn Dulles the first civilian director for the CIA We knew this when we bought it. We applied to Albany, since the Dulles Inn has been added to the national registry of historic places has a New York State historical marker and was granted City Of Auburn local historic landmark status ! I host a lot of exclusive events from nonprofit galas, to music festivals, Memorials, birthday, parties weddings and more it is so wonderful to watch people gather at the Inn whilst making lasting memories ❤️
