Built as a private residence in 1905, the home received its signature facade of brick steps and white columns in 1918. In the 1950s, the Fitzgerald Elks Club added the grand Ballroom, and the building has served as the town’s primary gathering place ever since.

About Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald was founded in 1895 by Union veterans as a conciliatory community between the Union and Confederacy. Today, its active downtown is friendly to bikes, golf carts, and pedestrians, and it serves as the home of local restaurants and shops, a working historic theater, and some of the town’s original homes. Fitzgerald is uniquely located such that Atlanta, Savannah, and Jacksonville can all be reached by car in less than three hours.
