Unique opportunity to own a piece of history, known as the “Eddy Plow Works” building. This 3-story building is located in quaint Greenwich/Easton of picturesque Washington County, NY.
In 1832, Walden Eddy from Saratoga County began manufacturing plows. The most well-known plow was known as the “rough and ready wrought iron beam.” Circa 1892, when this building was built, Eddy Plow Works moved in and offered a showroom, moulding & grinding room as well as blacksmith, forge, machine paint and finishing shops. It employed about 40 people at this time. (Article from The Greenwich Journal, 1/19/1983)
In addition to the rough and ready plow, Eddy Plow also manufactured the steel reversible level land plow and the one-horse plow with patent draft rod (perfect for gardening and orchards), hilling plow, other farm implements for corn/potatoes, table saws and even bicycles.
The company took on some different partners over the years and ending up closing around 1950-1952.
Currently the building offers many possibilities. The first floor has potential for office, retail space etc. The second floor offers 2 beautiful apartments. Each apartment is 2BR/1 full bath and has separate utilities. The third floor is a wide open black space, open to many possibilities! There is also a full, unfinished walkout basement with tons of space for storage. Each floor has approximately 2,100 square feet. Includes off-street parking for 12 cars.
The property is currently being subdivided and will include approximately 0.38 acre. There will be an easement for ingress/egress.
