In 1832, Walden Eddy from Saratoga County began manufacturing plows. The most well-known plow was known as the “rough and ready wrought iron beam.” Circa 1892, when this building was built, Eddy Plow Works moved in and offered a showroom, moulding & grinding room as well as blacksmith, forge, machine paint and finishing shops. In addition to the rough and ready plow, Eddy Plow also manufactured the steel reversible level land plow and the one-horse plow with patent draft rod (perfect for gardening and orchards), hilling plow, other farm implements for corn/potatoes, table saws and even bicycles.
