About Richard Byrne

A native New Yorker, Richard spent many years visiting friends in the Hudson Valley before buying an 1815 restored coach house in Athens as a weekend home, in 2011. After some years of weekending, Richard and his husband of 18 years decided to sell their condo in Harlem, and bought an 1800 Federal home in Kinderhook, as their happy full-time upstate home. Trusting his business instinct, he then purchased and personally restored a multi-unit residential building in Hudson. His inkling was correct, a sound investment indeed!

In a previous life, Richard was a successful operatic soloist. In addition to seven seasons at the Metropolitan Opera, he sang for 14 years at New York City Opera as well as orchestras and opera companies throughout North America. His career took him to wonderful cities such as Geneva, Vienna, Tokyo, Santiago, Hong Kong, Nice, Marseilles, Toulouse and many others. It was a wonderful life-but at a certain point everyone needs a permanent home!

It is often said that a performer is only as good as his last performance. Relationships, be it with clients, colleagues or an audience, are everything. When looking for a realtor, rest assured that Richard brings the same care, integrity and hard work to his relationships as he did while onstage at The Met.

You deserve nothing less!
