With over three decades of wide-ranging real estate experience, Karen provides highly knowledgeable, friendly and finely-tuned service that addresses the specific needs of her buyers and sellers. Before joining Turpin, Karen was a legal assistant specializing in real estate where she gained valuable knowledge about the transaction process. She also has over 10 years of experience handling every aspect of a real estate office. Tasks in that role ran the gamut from compliance with the New Jersey Real Estate Commission to highly effective property marketing techniques. Karen’s thorough understanding of marketing strategies and complex housing regulations, combined with outstanding communication and organizational skills, has earned her a reputation as a respected professional in the community. Her genuine interest in architecture began in the 1980s when she worked alongside her father, a master craftsman of period construction and renovations whose work was featured in Colonial Homes magazine. Karen quickly developed a trained eye for quality design and superior details in houses. An enduring love of antique homes is reflected in the historic homes Karen has lived in—an 18th century schoolhouse in Mendham Township and a circa 1872 church manse in Long Valley. Renovating a 250-plus year old stone and brick Colonial in Mansfield Township with her husband, Kevin, of 28 years, was a labor of love. Today they live in the Pittstown section of Union Township. As an area resident, she can offer firsthand advice about schools, commuting and a variety of local amenities, events and activities. In additional to activities such as snow skiing, hiking, antiquing, genealogy, traveling and reading, Karen is a member of the National Wildlife Federation and the New Jersey Audubon Society. So interested, in fact, in her favorite pastimes of birding and nature study, Karen’s property is certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat. Involvement in many local groups includes Friends of the Hunterdon County Library, Hunterdon County Branch Garden Club, NJ Native Plant Society and Boy Scout Troop 200.
