About This Old House

One of the earliest built Georgian style houses in SC with an orginial separate kitchen, this home is built of black cypress siding, hand-hewn sills and joists that rest on brick foundation of English bond. The house is braced frame construction with hewn and pegged joists. Many of the windows, all of the flooring and fireplaces, and most of the doors are original to the house. The lot is one of the orginial 1732 lots and is most desirable with 100′ front and 218′ deep. The gardens are beautiful, designed by Jean Rothrock with azaleas and other native plants making for a showplace in the spring. The old kitchen(outside)is a 1 ½ story wood frame building with a massive first floor two sided fireplace and a loft above with two fire boxes.
