About This Old House

The Roquin Plantation home was built in 1913, and sits on 105 acres of fertile woodlands. The property is located in Alberta, VA, nestled midway between Petersburg and the tremendous lake resort area of Gaston Lake and the John Kerr Dam. The estate was also apart of the historic James River Plantations Garden Tour.

The property is conveniently situated just 5 miles off US Route 1 and I-85. This location lends itself to a quiet oasis off the beaten path, yet provides easy access to Richmond (1 hr.), Raleigh (1.5 hrs.), VA Beach (2hrs.) and our nation’s capital only (3 hrs.) away. The atmosphere of the estate is one of peace, quiet, and leisure, far from the tensions of the day-to-day hustle and bustle. Whether maintained as a private residence, or utilized as a wedding venue, this spectacular property is a gem!

There is 40 acres of open fields, surrounded by beautiful pine tress. The estate is approximately 7,500 sq. ft. of livable space, comprised of 9 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, and a fully remodeled kitchen. The 66 ft. porches surround the entire front of the estate on both the first and second floors. The main hall is (20’x13’), consisting of an L-shaped victorian staircase, wainscot-paneling, and beamed ceiling.

The current owners are licensed general contractors, and have done magnificent renovations since 2001, including updating the electrical system and HVAC, while maintaining the original detail. In addition, there is a tenant house built in 1750 on the property.
