Imagine a time long ago when the pace was somewhat slower, the air a bit cleaner, the land and family home more central in daily life… Now imagine sensing that same feeling every time you come home to this circa 1850 estate Fairview, the Clairborne Kinnard House, and the surrounding 31 acres of land, your land, with enough room for all the family, friends and animals you may have. This classical revival architecture estate has been meticulously restored to its original splendor. The owner has lovingly restored to its historic grandeur all the original hardwood floors and original oak doors, and transom windows. The beautiful millwork carpentry are each a work of art. Highlighting the 14 ft. ceilings and pocket doors, the elegant dining room features one of 7 working fireplaces. New wiring and plumbing and environmentally friendly solar power and geothermal heating and cooling have been added. The remodeled kitchen has all the modern conveniences. Wrap around porches on all sides offer 360 degree views of surrounding green pastures and the rolling Williamson County countryside.  Yes, it’s a big house…5000 sq.ft. more or less with a charming original circa 1790 log cabin restored as a 760 sq.ft. guest quarters/studio.
Kinnard Springs is an equestrian neighborhood and is minutes from downtown Historic Franklin and historic Leiper’s Fork Village. Kinnard Springs is located on part of the original Swanson land grant, which was purchased by Edward Swanson shortly after his arrival in Nashville in 1779. A portion of this grant was then sold by Swanson to Clairborne Kinnard. In 1850, Kinnard completed his home, a two story frame with end fireplaces. Large parlors with high ceilings flank the entrance hall with its lovely staircase. The house was remodeled in 1898 adding the two-story, columned portico and the other porches. Author James A. Crutchfield continued in his book A Heritage of Grandeur, “The heritage of Fairview has been proudly conveyed to three generations of Kinnards. There are few houses as old as this one that have heard the voices of but a single family.”
