Two-story Mid-Century Modern-style bank building, which is a designated City of Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument located at 8150 West Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California (APN 5554-007-014 and 5554-007-015) is available for relocation. Completed in 1960 for the Lytton Savings and Loan Association, it is an early example of architect Kurt Meyer’s work, featuring Mid-Century Modern-style architecture, glass walls, travertine cladding, concrete columns, and a large folded-plate prefabricated concrete roof. It was built as the Hollywood Headquarters and Home Branch of Lytton Savings, and was a multi-media showcase for Modern art, architecture and interior design oriented toward Sunset Boulevard. The building to be relocated measures approximately 76’ x 149’. At the roof level, the width increases to about 102’-2”. The building height from grade level is 32’-4 ½”. The building is too large to be relocated in one piece, intact, because of existing street widths, medians and traffic signals. It must be dissembled and moved in sections or salvaged and reconstructed. Requirements include preparation of a City-approved Relocation and Rehabilitation Plan following National Park Service methodology outlined in the booklet entitled “Moving Historic Buildings,” by John Obed Curtis (1979). Rehabilitation work to repair/reconstruct the building after relocation must follow the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. In addition, a plaque describing the date of the move and the original location will need to be placed in a visible location near the relocated Bank. Buyer is responsible for all costs and fees associated with the building removal and any compensation to seller associated with delay of removal of the building from the site. Buyer must identify and control suitable receiver site that is feasible for relocation. Any offer submitted must be accompanied by proof that the buyer has the funds and experience necessary to purchase and relocate the building – any offer not accompanied by proof of funds and experience will be automatically rejected. Any cost of the artwork included in the sale of the building to be relocated will be in addition to the identified costs. Buyer to conduct its own due diligence and be responsible for any and all costs and governmental approvals associated with relocation, whether indicated in the relocation study or not. Seller makes no warranties whatsoever as to the building, including feasibility of relocation, quality and/or structural soundness of the existing structure, the presence of hazardous materials or anything of the like.
