After serving in World War II, doctors and medical school classmates Dr. F.J. Halcomb and Dr. Earl Oliver established a practice in Scottsville, Kentucky. In 1950 Dr. Oliver had this Cape Cod-style home built on 5 acres just outside of town on what was then the primary road leading toward Tennessee. It was just across the road from the tee for hole #2 of the Scottsville Country Club.
The home has been well maintained with beautiful hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen has been updated with granite and custom cabinets but includes the restored original built-in oven. The home features a formal dining room and living room with built-in bookcase and 1 of 3 fireplaces. The den with a covered front porch includes a wet bar. There are 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths with multiple large closets throughout. The side entry was formerly a waiting area for an after-hours exam room. The back features a private patio with a covered porch. The hilltop has partial fencing, a horse stable, and an RV shed. The primary bedroom features a bonus “pool room”.
