The Historic Village of Leipsic Delaware is on the banks of the Leipsic River, the largest port in Kent county Delaware, just a couple of minutes with your boat to the Delaware Bay. Leipsic is just a couple of miles from the Center of Dover Delaware, the state capital.
The Sipple House is a Three-Story, Cruciform-plan structure dating from the late nineteenth century. Built in 1880, the dwelling is covered with a gable roof with box cornice ornamented with regularly spaced Italianate brackets and projecting mansard roofed central bay. The gables of the main block and rear extension are also finished with Italianate cornice brackets.
While most historic homes restorers have painted over, removed, or destroyed trim, doors, hardware on windows and doors – the Sipple House features are all intact. It is rare to find so many details that are all original. The Sipple House was occupied by the Sipple family until just a few of years ago.
This House is described on the national documents as one of the best representations of Victorian Italianate architecture. Make this grand lady your home, bed and breakfast, or even a great professional space and or office – Bring Your Dream!
K1560 is the official listing number for the Sipple House in the National Register of Historic Places. For more information please check the National Register of Historic Places on the internet to see the filings that go along with this house.
The Sipple House is on the corner of Front St. and Denny Rd. or state Route 9. Across the street is a large marina with full service and a couple of yards further down is Sambo’s Tavern, a historic destination place for crabs, seafood and beer.
Nature lovers take note – Leipsic is surrounded by many state and federal wild life areas and is the major east coast flyway for migratory birds – along with numerous nature and historic sites.
