Being less than 2 miles from downtown Petaluma, you will find block after block of unexpected delights such as world-class dining, antique stores, galleries, wineries, and bistros.
The Neunfeldt property, as a vacant lot, was conveyed to Alfred Neunfefdt by Louis Hilmer on
November 2, 1892 (County Recorder, Instrument #141 page, 145). It is most likely that the house was built shortly after this transaction and was in the same family from its original construction in 1893 until 2005.
The house was a single story home with elements of several styles from the period it was built. The layout was similar to other homes in Petaluma with a centered front dormer, bay window on one side and an entry porch on the other. The dormer has an unusual double-hipped roof and three square windows across the front, all with diamond glazed panes. The roof portion of the dormer is slightly extended with enclosed eves and decorative brackets at the corners. Rounded columns, elements often used in Classical Revival structures, support the front porch.
Renovations on this home began in 2018 adding a fully finished basement private suite, with kitchenette and walkout, and second story loft. This increased the original square footage of the home from 1,536 square feet to 3,402 square feet. “History” has been updated and special attention has been taken to preserve original details and materials paired with all of the modern amenities of today’s standard of living. Historic restorations and modern additions include: Historic columns and dormer windows at exterior; custom black, white and knotty alder cabinetry; extensive historic wood working including wainscot, bead board, wood paneling, plate rail and picture rail; historic pediment window and door casing; original hardwood flooring in primary bedroom and den; marble flooring, countertops and shower surround at primary bathroom; historic weighted windows; free standing tub at primary bathroom; historic reclaimed pocket door painted in classic navy; marble kitchen countertops with subway tile backsplash; white farmhouse apron front sink; champagne bronze kitchen faucet and pot filler; modern Bertazzoni stainless steel kitchen appliances; historic reclaimed cabinet with glass uppers; 7.1 surround sound at great room; upgraded newel posts at stair system; hardwood flooring at main level, basement and stairs; classic octo-dot style tile floors at secondary bathrooms; kitchenette at guest suite with mini refrigerator, sink and convection microwave.
