This architectural gem is a rare, highly original, 38’ X 30’ center chimney 1740 Saltbox from Cheshire, CT. The house was going to be bulldozed for a development, so we hired an expert to dismantle it, restore the wood, and store it until we might erect it on some land for our retirement. Our retirement plans changed so now you can take all the restored wood that has been numbered and documented, and have a builder put up this remarkable house on your own property and customize it to your liking. The price we are asking is less than we have invested to save it.
*Expertly disassembled, restored, and stored in a dry barn in Litchfield, CT
*Includes custom restored windows.
*Meticulously documented with photographs and “as built” drawings
*Includes hardwood frame, major rafter with minor purlins; gunstock posts
*Carefully stripped outstanding interior woodwork including paneling, wainscoting, mantelpieces, trim and cabinetry (with lovely corner cupboard), feather edge detailing, rare original rear staircase (front staircase from a later period)
*Foot-worn wide-board flooring throughout
*Extra woodwork and bricks from its highly unusual period summer kitchen
*Some of the original fireplace cheek stones are also included
*2280 square feet, 3 bedrooms, no bathrooms (We eliminated the one that bumped out from the kitchen.) No bathrooms were ever added upstairs so flooring and paneling are remarkably intact since the house didn’t “suffer from affluence.”
*Ready to erect and finish on your property
