Bay Horse Café and Road House
625 Main St. Cincinnati Ohio ,45202
This one of a kind urban inn has been in Cincinnati since its beginnings. We traced it back 200 years to a spot where fifty years later the beautiful Cincinnati Suspension bridge would be built. It survived floods wars, prohibition, Carrie Nation’s hatchet, Federal agents, and urban renewal. It was located across from a horse auction where in 1879 a Horse wandered in for a stiff drink and the customers named it The Bay Horse Exchange. Though closed down many times it has survived to today and restored to perfection a welcoming neighborhood watering hole in the center of the City. We call it our museum with a liquor license. Our history is on the walls, our bar is to die for. Our tin ceiling and original tile floor sets the stage and the patterned windows were uncovered intact. Our back room with its 13-foot couch can be used for private parties and meetings. We serve light food.
We will not elaborate about the historical use of rooms above but they are now restored as an office and eight quirky old-fashioned apartments that our residents just love. We opted for year rentals yet these units are perfect for Bed & Breakfast or Air BNB use. Sadly a death of our owner necessitates the sale.
