About This Old House

The Pasture House was constructed in 1906 on the Kellogg Farm just outside the Village of Benson, Vermont. The house is based on the pioneering work of the American architectural icon Gustav Stickley. The house was designed by its original owner when she studied at the Pratt institute in New York City, It has a unique gently curving slate roof with cooper flashing. The period hardware used throughout was designed by Stickley and the house is richly detailed with period built-in cabinetry. It also has both a main staircase that starts in the front parlor and a servants stair that provides direct access to the kitchen and mud room from the upstairs quarters. The house is sided in quartersawn clapboards and retains all aspects of its original design and charm.
