About This Old House

In 1799 Edward Loomis built a road from Oxford to Smithville Flats in exchange for 50 acres of land on which he built a log cabin for his family. As he prospered he acquired more land and built the stone house in 1832. The house is listed on the National Historic Register as well as the New York Historic Register.
The house was completely updated in 2011 with all new mechanicals and the interior was restored using original materials saved from the house.
It has 52 acres of land which include woods, pasture, cropland, hiking trails, trout stream and ponds.
The main barn 130 feet long has hand hewn timbers with dairy stable below and high drive hay mow above.There are 3 out buildings and all barns are of the highest quality workmanship of the 1800 s craftsmen.
