This post Revolutionary War era house was built by Leonard Rogers in the late 1700’s in what was then known as North Bolton, CT. North Bolton bordered East Windsor, CT. at that time. Mr. Rogers had been a Sergeant in George Washington’s army. In 1808, Mr. Rogers was one of the first electors to the formation of Vernon.   In 1802 an addition was built on the back of the house giving it its current dimensions. If you look at the roof today towards the back you can see a slight change in the upper roof shingles where the original hand-hewn beams meet the more modernly water-sawn beams for the roof. Other than the shingles themselves, which have been replaced recently, the roof support is original and in excellent condition.   The house
